Work just like the originals.
These replaced the worn through originals on our very old Tripper. You will need the "long" 3/16" rivet to install them - "medium" is not long enough. Though these looked a little sketchy when I first got them, they fit just as well as the originals. Note also that you need to drill the rivet holes. Make some pencil marks using a ruler on the body of the canoe using a ruler to line up so you know where to drill once you install the new cap. Looks like new when done.
